Japan’s Parliament approves new election rules requiring AI-generated images and videos on social media to be clearly labelled. The rules also prohibit users and platforms from spreading false or distorted information about candidates. The rules take effect on March 1, 2027, but contain no penalties, raising concerns about enforcement.
