Emmanuel Macron arrives in Nairobi today, to co-host the Africa Forward Summit with William Ruto and thirty other heads of states of Africa, marking a major shift in France-Africa relations. For the first time since 1973, the summit is held in an English-speaking African country, reflecting France’s effort to expand beyond its traditional Francophone influence. Leaders are expected to adopt the Nairobi Declaration focused on economic growth and sustainable development. France and Kenya also sign 11 agreements covering energy infrastructure, digital connectivity, urban transport, AI, and green industrialization, signaling deeper economic and technological cooperation across Africa.
