As per a report, Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) continue pulling capital from Asian markets as global investors shift into safer and AI-driven assets. India records outflows of ₹32,963 crore in May and ₹2.25 lakh crore in 2026, while South Korea sees more than $25 billion leave in a month. Large withdrawals are also reported from China and Japan. Investors are moving funds toward U.S. technology, AI, and semiconductor sectors, attracted by strong returns and high U.S. Treasury yields. Rising crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions further pressure import-dependent economies like India, increasing inflation and economic uncertainty.
